Volunteers with the Clark County Democratic Party will make their best efforts to pair those who need rides with willing drivers.

Clark County Democratic Party is not providing a bus to Carson City due to the NASCAR weekend the same weekend which has used up the demand of all Union bus transport companies in the region for this weekend along with passenger shuttle vans.

At this time we are only collecting information from those whom are willing to provide rides to the meeting. Once we have offers those opportunities will be listed on the website along with a form for those interested to have their information forwarded to the host.

Until we have participants offering to drive we will not be collecting information from those who need a ride so that no one relies on a carpool to get them to Carson City if we do not have drivers willing to provide transportation.

Your carpool is confirmed when you have made connection directly with the person offering the ride and you have both confirmed back to Clark County Dems that the arrangement works for you both.

If you need a ride check back to this page as opportunities will be posted on a daily basis as volunteers step forward. Again, we will not be collecting names in general. Do not rely on the car pool system to your detriment if you are able to make other arrangements.

ONLY USE THE FORM BELOW IF YOU ARE OFFERING A RIDE

The Clark County Democratic Party (CCDP) is now accepting nominations for Corresponding Secretary and Commission District Representative representing Clark County Commission District A.
Perform such other duties as the Bylaws, Chair, CCCC, or its Executive Board shall delegate.

Commission District Representative (Article VII, Section 4)
Serves as a member of the CCDP Political Organizing Committee to:

Develop and implement, with the approval of the Executive Board, all necessary CCDP programs to assist in the election of local, state and national Democratic candidates including, but not limited to, voter registration, voter persuasion, get out the vote, and to maintain the democratic organization in the county.

Provide annual budget recommendations to the Budget and Finance committee for political programs.

Hey, everyone, meet Mike Prior, one of our most motivated and consistent
Organizing for America volunteers! Mike is a constant presence in the Green Valley/Henderson/South East office, and you will always find him doing something helpful—making calls, greeting new volunteers, entering data, and lining up new people to volunteer for President Obama’s re-election campaign.

Mike first started out in May, 2011 with OFA, making calls in the office, then decided he wanted to get more involved, and boy, did he ever! He has been working hard ever since, steadily building his own team, and has become a confirmed Neighborhood Team Leader in an amazingly short time!

Mike is a great example of how persistence and personal motivation can bring about wonderful results, even for people who have just joined with the campaign recently.

Mike is originally from Michigan, and before retirement, worked for many years on the Strip as a cook. He lives in southeast Las Vegas, but you can find him almost every day in the Green Valley OFA office, working hard to re-elect President Obama.

When you come in to volunteer, be sure to stop by and say hello to Mike Prior, our Clark County Democrat All-Star of the Week! You’ll be glad you did, and don’t be surprised if you find yourself signed up with Mike’s team before you walk out of the office! (:

A wife, mother, grandmother, career woman, and one of the biggest Democratic volunteers in the valley make Linda Cavazos our Clark County Democrat All Star of the Week.

Linda can be found most evenings at the Green Valley OFA office phone banking for the President and his agenda. Recently, Linda brought her granddaughter to help phone for Obama – that is true family values! Linda also phones, canvases and fundraises for Democratic Congressional, state and local candidates.

A true grass roots volunteer, Linda never hesitates to step up and help.

Although Linda has political enthusiasm, her real passion is family. Linda and her husband Bob love spending time with their children and grandchildren. I am sure that with Linda volunteering and enrolling others to join her for phone banks and canvases, Democrats will be successful in Nevada’s 2012 election.

Congratulations to Linda on being our All Star of the Week!

Thank you to our Chair Chris Miller for writing this story about Linda.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Clark County Nevada Democratic Party Response to Iowa Caucus Results

Statement from our Chair Chris Miller:

Last night, in a close race, Iowa Republicans caucused and chose Mitt Romney as their candidate to run against Barack Obama in November. But as someone who has run for President for the past 5 years and has spent millions of dollars, Mitt Romney was rejected by 75% of caucus goers. This definitely shows the party’s huge discomfort with both Gov. Romney and the rest of the feeble field of candidates.

With several more races still ahead, what is guaranteed is that the eventual GOP nominee is on record demanding the end of Social Security and Medicare as we know it, the end of health care reform that’s set to provide affordable and accessible care for working class families, fewer Pell Grants and fewer resources to send America’s youth to college, and the end of financial reform to hold big Wall Street banks accountable. It’s also looking increasingly certain the final GOP nominee will resort to further divisive “culture wars’ rhetoric that threaten women, communities of color, and LGBTQ families.

Contrast that with what’s happening not just in Iowa tonight, but throughout Clark County, the state of Nevada and the entire nation. President Obama has been building the strongest grassroots organization and campaign infrastructure in place of ANY candidate in this race. President Obama has reminded us of the many accomplishments we’ve seen in the last three years… saving the American economy from the precipice of disaster, saving America’s Auto Industry, ending the war in Iraq, and protecting all Americans by signing Wall Street reform into law. The President is also speaking of what still needs to be done to address the needs of middle class families here in Clark County and across this great nation.

While Nevada Republicans were busy caving into RNC demands to push back their caucus date and shutting many thousands of voters out of their caucuses, Nevada Democrats in Clark County and throughout the state have been busy building our grassroots support and putting together the winning team that will turn our county and state blue yet again this fall.

As we enter the 2011 Holiday Season, I am reminded about the hope and promise of peace on Earth and goodwill toward men.

In this spirit, let’s celebrate the end of the war in Iraq and be thankful for returning troops spending time with their families this holiday season. But, in the spirit of goodwill, please remember the men and women of our Armed Services who are serving in Afghanistan and around
the globe, those who are living with injury and those brave American soldiers who are not coming home. The holidays are a good time to reach out to the family of a fallen soldier or to an injured vet to let them know that, as Nevadans, we remember and care.

I am amazed and thankful for the level of support the members and friends of the Clark County Democratic Party give to others. Everything from volunteering at food banks, feeding the homeless, staffing a water station at the Las Vegas marathon and supporting a toy drive for the youngest victims of HIV/Aids shows the world that DEMOCRATS CARE!

People like CCDP Board Member Nancy Kuhns who volunteers everywhere, Rebecca Ferriera with Safe Faith United trying to make
Nevada safer for victims of domestic violence and Loretta Harper who is one of our biggest OFA volunteers. Remember, a simple act of kindness can change the lives and families of so many. I look forward to continued community involvement.

I want to extend a special note of holiday greetings to our Clark County Club and Caucus Presidents and Chairs. These leaders go above and beyond to ensure grass roots Nevadans are engaged and involved year-round. These leaders and organizations are also to be commended for their volunteer work in the community.
Again, DEMOCRATS CARE!

As we look on the horizon towards 2012, we, as Democrats have a lot of work to do. I don’t know about you, but I am asking for a little help on my holiday wish list… re-electing President Obama, electing Shelly Berkley as Nevada’s first female Senator, electing 3 Democratic Congressional representatives and having continued majorities in the Nevada State Legislature. Hey, it never hurts to ask.

On a personal note, I want to recognize the men and women who serve with me on the Executive Board of the Clark County Democratic Party. The commitment to step-up and take a leadership role is a huge undertaking. I acknowledge your dedication with special holiday wishes to each of you. I cannot do this job without your support!!

In closing, I want to thank each and every one of you for giving me the opportunity to lead Clark County at this very important time. I value each and every one of you and appreciate all of the support you have given to me, the candidates and to the Clark County Democratic Party.

I am wishing you and your loved ones a happy and safe holiday season!
