Loretta Harper Clark County Democrats All Star of the Week!
Her students call her Mrs. Harper to us she is a friend, dedicated activist and a devout Obama supporter from day 1. Let me see if I can give a small glimpse into her life.
She is a High School Counselor and even carried her 4” binders on a summer trip to DC to ensure she would have all the records up to date prior to the school year beginning. She was checking credits as her #1 priority was to make sure her
students would graduate from high school. She talked about her students like they were her own children.
As a member of the Clark County Education Association she was elected to the Nevada State Association Board of Directors where she advocates for a quality education for all students in Nevada. She spent her Spring Break in 2011 at the Nevada Legislature lobbying 6 Republican and 19 Democratic Legislators on education funding.
On evenings and weekends you will find Loretta recruiting volunteers or team members, as she likes to call them to make phone calls, register voters or host neighborhood meetings helping re-elect President Barack Obama. If you have been to one of Loretta’s meetings you will easily see why she has recruited so many volunteers. On one Saturday Loretta had so many people attending her meeting that she had a morning and then an afternoon session. To Loretta, this is familiar territory as she worked tirelessly to help elect our President in 2008.
